Over 80% of UVM students are involved in at least one of Student Government Association's 180+ recognized clubs and organizations. But with so many clubs and orgs it might be a little overwhelming to figure out which ones might be the best fit for you. That's where we can help.

Dedicated to the prevention of sexual assault on campuses. Through education 1IN4 supplies peers with the tools to become allies to survivors, offer options for bystander intervention, and give room for this conversation to happen.

A Capella: Cat's Meow - All Women

UVM's only all-female a cappella group. Auditions held at the beginning of every semester.

A Capella: Hit Paws - Co-Ed

A co-ed a cappella group that sings at gigs in and around the community and travels throughout New England, singing at various events with other a cappella groups. Auditions begin every semester.

A Capella: Scratch That

A gender inclusive space for UVM students to share their love a cappella by way of hit pop songs.

A Capella: Top Cats - All Men

UVM's only all male A-Capella ensemble. The group is highly exclusive and small in numbers, and they perform regularly in the UVM and greater Burlington communities, as well as up and down the entirety of the east coast.

A Capella: Zest Co-Ed

UVM's youngest co-ed a cappella group focuses on building community through music. Auditions are held at the beginning of every semester.

Accounting

Hone your accounting skills, meet with business professionals already working in the accounting field, and talk with students and teachers about issues arising from their classes, internships, or everyday lives.

Active Minds

A local chapter of a national organization dedicated to destigmatizing mental health disorders by promoting open, enlightened discussion around mental health.

African Student Association

A student organization focused on the cultural, social, and academic needs of African students. ASA is open to all students, regardless of race, creed, color, religious affiliation, or sexual orientation.

Alianza Latinx

A student-run organization dedicated to raising awareness about Latino culture and providing resources for the Latino community at UVM. Students do not have to identify as Latino to join.

Alpha Phi Omega - Co-ed Service Fraternity

A co-ed service fraternity dedicated to leadership, friendship, and service. Participate in weekly service opportunities as well as fellowship events to develop bonds between members.

Alpine Ski

Offers both new and experienced racers the opportunity to compete in both relaxed and competitive leagues.

Alternative Energy Racing Organization

Works for advocacy, research and development of alternative energy drive systems - and finding technological solutions to address our dependency on non-renewable energy sources.

Alternative Spring Break

Do service in communities outside of your own by on a week-long, substance-free, volunteer trips throughout the nation over spring break. Participant applications are due mid fall semester.

American Sign Language

Anime

Dedicated to creating an environment where fans of anime can share their passion, collectively screening and discussing classic and upcoming anime.

Anthropology Club

Provides a medium for interactions between anthropologists and students as well as provide support to student research opportunities.

Arts Club

For Catamounts looking to make art, hone their skills, and have a safe space to be creative. This group consist mostly of people who don't have the opportunity to take art classes - but welcomes all levels of artistic experience and ability.

Asian Student Union

Explore and develop Asian-American identities and cultural values in both UVM and the greater community.

Audubon UVM Chapter

A community of students passionate about birds as well as establish the space for these students to engage with peers and the community around these topics.

Backcountry Hunters and Anglers

Learn about and promote the conversation, protection, and use of public lands and waters.

Badminton Club

Offers an opportunity for students to play badminton recreationally. Open to players of all skill levels.

Ballet Viridis

UVM's first SGA recognized ballet company - currently student taught and organized. Includes choreographing and performing both classical and contemporary ballet pieces.

Ballroom & West Coast Swing

Teaches beginner ballroom and west coast swing lessons, as well as intermediate west coast swing - for FREE! The Ballroom competition team is a nationally recognized group that competes across the US and Canada.

Baseball Team*

Founded in the Spring of 2010. UVM Baseball won the championship our first year with an undefeated season and followed the next year second in our division losing in the semi finals of the playoffs. * Try-Outs Required.

Bee Keepers

Establish a beekeeping community, educate and inform the public, and tend to a bee yard on campus.

Best Buddies

A global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships, integrated employment, leadership development, and inclusive living for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Biochemistry Society

A group of students who support and advocate for the sciences on campus offering seminars, hands on activities, and career resources to anyone interested in learning more about the sciences.

BioMedical & Health Sciences

Provides opportunities for students to engage in health-related activities such as community service and fundraising.

BioMedical Engineering Society

A resource for innovation, student networking opportunities, and community outreach in the field of biomedical engineering.

Black Student Union

Established in 2003 as a way for students of color to: find community, build coalition and allies, increase diversity, and strengthen intercultural development.We welcome all!

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu + Judo

Dedicated to teaching students, faculty and staff the proper techniques of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in a safe and friendly manner. Club members are also given the opportunity to train No-Gi Grappling.

Camp Kesem

A student-run summer camp for children whose parents have been affected by cancer. Campers spend an empowering week filled with summertime activities while creating lasting bonds with other children and undergraduate students.

Catamount Dance Crew*

UVM's hip-hop dance team. Performances range from an annual Spring Showcase, to events at Higher Ground. This organization is completely student run and welcomes all dancers. Auditions held at the beginning of every semester. * Try-Outs Required.

Catamounts Against Cancer

A local chapter of a nation-wide collaboration of students, faculty, and staff dedicated to eliminating cancer by initiating and supporting programs of the American Cancer Society in college communities.

Catamounts Supporting Israel

Showcasing all the technological, environmental, sustainable, and medical advances of the State of Israel. Heavily focused on exploring and educating people on the culture of Israel.

Catholic Student Association

The voice for Catholic students on campus, cultivating growth and understanding of the Catholic faith, and creating Catholic fellowship.

Celtic Cats - Irish Dance

Provides an opportunity to learn, practice, and explore celtic dancing - including lots of performance opportunities. Open to all regardless of knowledge or expertise.

Chabad - Jewish Community Life

Dedicated to spreading Jewish and Israeli culture to all students, both Jewish and non-Jewish. Welcomes all Jewish individuals regardless of affiliation and denomination, and welcomes anyone curious about Judaism. Also offers free Friday night meals at the home of the Rabbi.

Challah for Hunger

A non-profit organization dedicated to “baking a difference” by making challah bread. Funds raised are donated to partner organizations both locally and internationally.

Cheerleading*

A devoted, hard working group of students that supports the men's and women's Varsity Basketball teams. Contributes to the fun atmosphere of varsity athletics. * Try-Outs Required.

Chem Cats

Participate in events run by the chemistry department, meet other students and learn more about the field.

Chess Club

Dedicated to playing, studying and teaching chess. Enthusiasts of all levels are welcome.

Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship

A community of students brought together by a common spiritual journey - exploring the teachings of Jesus, experiencing authentic relationships, and engage in compassionate service.

Chicks on Sticks

A coalition of female skiers and riders advocating and fostering women’s empowerment in snow sports regardless of age or expertise.

Chinese Students & Scholars Association

Provides services to all Chinese students - celebrating traditional Chinese festivals and helping students thrive at UVM.

Climbing Team

Provides training and instructions for students to learn or improve rock climbing skills and techniques. Meets 2-3 times a week and competes in local competitions.

College Democrats

Strives to engage students in the political process, promote the ideals and principles of the Democratic Party, and support the development of current and emerging leaders.

College Diabeties Network

A non-profit organization whose mission is to empower and improve the lives of students living with Type 1 diabetes through peer support and access to information and resources.

College Republicans

Strives to promote the values and principles that the Republican party believes will help the United States; discusses current topics, and emerging leaders.

Collegiate 4-H Club

Build connections, foster mentorship experiences, and give back to the local 4-H community through youth development.

Contra & Folk Dance Society

Creates a community of contra dancers (and other folk dancers) at UVM to attend local dances, host calling or dance workshops, and host contra dances on campus.

Creative Writers Guild

Creates a welcoming space where creative writers can come to practice their skills. No matter what you love to write, you can join.

Computer Science Crew

Cultivates a community of people who are passionate about computer science by providing resources such as recruiting events, workshops, and a room to study in at any time.

Cycling

Dedicated to spreading, growing and competing in the sport of cycling. Competes in all facets of cyclesport from mountain in the fall, cyclocross in the later fall, and road in the spring.

Dairy Challenge Club

Take part in Dairy Challenge competitions and learn about the dairy industry through farm operation assessment.

Dairy Club

Learn about the dairy industry, touring local Vermont dairy farms and industry businesses, and bring speakers to campus to discuss current industry trends and topics.

Dance Force*

Provides a safe space for newcomers and pros to dance, learn new skills, and make lasting friendships. * No Audition, No Experience Required.

Dance Team*

A close-knit group of dancers who love to perform, entertaining the crowd at all Men's and Women's home basketball games during timeouts and half-time. The team also travels to NCAA and America East tournaments in March. * Try-Outs Required.

Design for America

Fuse collaboration, innovation, leadership, and creativity in order to design innovations for social good. Got a project you want to work on or an idea you want to see become a reality? Then give DFA a shot.

Disc Golf

Disc golf is more fun with more people and there are some great courses in the Burlington area which will be played on the weekends. Players of all skill levels welcome.

Dressage Team*

Offer riders of all disciplines and experience level the ability to study classical dressage - a unique discipline for riding a horse. * Try-Outs Required.

Ecological Design Cooperative

Connects designers from all backgrounds with materials and resources to work on ecological design projects at various scales.

Enactus

A community of students committed to using the power of entrepreneurial action to transform lives and shape a better more sustainable world through community service projects throughout Burlington and surrounding areas.

Engineering World Health

A non-profit organization that works to improve health care delivery in low-income, low-resource countries by teaching about sustainable engineering solutions in underdeveloped hospitals through hands on projects.

Engineers Without Borders

A local chapter of a national organization dedicated to building a better world through engineering projects that empower communities to meet their basic human needs.

Entrepreneurship Club

The UVM Entrepreneurship Club is a faculty-led organization that helps students pursue entrepreneurship as a career path through discussion forums, guest speaker events, and start-up competitions.

Equestrian*

Provides riders of all levels access to an unparalleled riding and horse education and a unique competition experience. * Try-Outs Required.

Examining White Identity Retreat

An opportunity for students who identify as white to engage in dialogue, self-reflection and to build skills that can help us create a more inclusive campus and world community.

Exercise and Movement Science Association

Creates educational practices, opportunities, and a networking system between professors and students among the student community in the College of Nursing and Health Science.

Family Business Club

Enriching the opportunity to learn, explore, and engage with local and national family businesses within the Grossman School of Business community.

FeelGood - Grilled Cheese Hunger Project

Working to end world hunger by exchanging locally sourced, gourmet grilled cheese for a donation to the sustainable end of world hunger.

Femmes in Forestry

A support and professional development space for femmes majoring in related natural resource majors—environmental sciences, wildlife, fisheries, natural resources, and more.

Fencing

UVM's Collegiate Fencing Club Salle Catamount is the fencing club. Open to all regardless of skill level or knowledge.

Field Hockey *

A student-led competitive team that play throughout the East Coast throughout the fall semester, with practice and scrimmage local teams in the spring. * Try-outs required.

Figure Skating

Supports skaters of all levels. Provides on-campus ice time to members, and connects members with coaches in the area. Includes a competitive synchronized skating team and a competitive freestyle team.

Film Club

Dedicated to producing and critiquing films as well as expanding the community's awareness of Cinema as a medium. The club is also dedicated to bringing in experts from the film industry to talk to its students.

Finance & Investment Club

Provides a learning environment for people who are interested in general investments, current stock market developments, and companies of interest.

Fly Fishing

Immerses students of all skill levels into the landscapes and aquatic habitats of Vermont through the art of Fly Fishing.

Folk Music

Introduces members of the University and the Burlington community to traditional music of all kinds through concerts, workshops, and hands-on playing/singing experience.

Food Recovery Network

A student club that works with UVM Dining and local farms to salvage unused food, turn it into nutritious meals, and serve those meals on Sundays to members of the Burlington community.

Football

UVM's only competitive football team. Competes in the Northeastern division of club football teams, against other competitive colleges such as Maine, Clarkson and Boston University.

Fraternity & Sorority Life

Enhance your UVM experience by developing your sense of citizenship, intellect, leadership and life-long friendships through involvement in a fraternity or sorority.

Freeskiing *

The Freeskiing Team competes in slopestyle, halfpipe, freeride, and rail jam competitions - both locally in Northern Vermont as well as Nationally. * Try-Outs Required.

Futsal

A co-ed Futsal team featuring weekly scrimmages.

Game Development Club

A group dedicated to learning about the ins and outs of game development.

Gaming Guild

Creates a place where anyone, regardless of who they are and what kind of games they like, can play games with other people, and/or create their own games.

Generation Outreach

Aims to improve the quality of life for individuals suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease through the use of music therapy by volunteering at nursing homes around the Burlington area.

Golf *

Consists of both competitive and recreational golfers. Currently the club is a member of the National Collegiate Club Golf Association (NCCGA). * Try-Outs Required.

Goodrich Classical Club

Promotes the study of Greek and Roman Society, language, and culture. This club is for anyone interested in Classical Studies--it's not just for Classics Majors and Minors.

Green Mountain Veggies

A place where vegans and non-vegans alike can come together to engage in conversation surrounding all aspects of plant-based health, environmental stewardship and animal rights across UVM.

Gymnastics Team

Men's and women's teams, each of which competes in the National Association of Intercollegiate Gymnastics. No experience is necessary, and any level is welcome to join.

Head Waters Magazine

A student-run publication of informed commentaries on local, regional, and global environmental issues. We encourage all undergraduate students, regardless of major, background, or politics, to join and contribute!

Hillel - Jewish Community

Provides Jewish programming to all students interested in learning about Judaism. Areas of involvement include social, religious, political and cultural events. Sponsors weekly Shabbat dinners as well as programs and events for most of the Jewish holidays.

Hoop Troop Dancing

In addition to teaching/learning the art of hooping (hula hooping), they choreograph a semester performance and are heavily involved in youth community work.

Horticulture Club

Brings together students interested in horticulture so that they may increase knowledge for themselves and others in the community. Activities include trips to local gardens, numerous hands-on workshops, etc.

Human Trafficking Awareness & Activism Club

Engages students in discussion surrounding the modern day slavery that operates on both a local and global scale.

Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

Promotes the engineering process of creating, developing, integrating, sharing, and applying knowledge about electro- and information technologies.

Instrumental/Vocal Ensembles or Lessons

Opportunities are abound for individuals who want to play an instrument or flex their vocal cords - or for those looking for lessons.

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship

Engages with students to discuss who Jesus is, what is God’s calling for us and what does it means to be a sent community, spreading the good news of renewal in Christ.

International Student Club

Working to build a sense of global community at UVM, creating a safe and engaging environment for both international students and students who seek to gain greater cultural awareness.

Jazbaa - Bollywood Dance

UVM's first Bollywood dance club. Aims to bring culture and influence from all over South Asia into UVM by incorporating all sorts of styles - Indian and Western - into Bollywood routines.

Kayak Club

Expands the sport of whitewater kayaking on campus as well as in the community. Runs pool sessions twice a week as well as lead a lot of river trips for a first hand experience on whitewater.

Lawrence Debate Union

An intercollegiate, academic organization that competes regionally, nationally, and internationally. Engages in two styles of debate: Policy and British Parliamentary (also known as Worlds); both are coached professionally.

League of Legends

Provide a space for UVM students to gather, build community, and bond over League of Legends - one of the world's most popular online video games.

Linguistics

Aims to create an environment in which students can explore their interests in linguistics and language. This club is focused on fostering a linguistics community on campus, and to act as an additional resource for students.

Marketing Club

Open to all UVM students, this club participates in various fundraisers, brings in marketing affiliated speakers, networks in big cities, and works to bring valuable experience to students interested in marketing and communication.

Math Club

For people who are interested in mathematics. They do math-related activities, such as lectures by professors as well as math-adjacent activities such as movies and origami. All are welcome.

MEDVIDA - Medicine, Education, & Development

MEDVIDA is partners with MEDlife, a non-profit organization devoted to providing healthcare and development to people in need world wide.

Men's Club Basketball *

A group of UVM students who love to play competitive basketball - practicing upwards of three times per week with games throughout both fall and spring semesters.

Men's Club Ice Hockey *

Serves the role of the University's 2nd men's ice hockey team, providing an avenue for high level non-varsity ice hockey players to play competitive full-contact ice hockey for UVM.

Men's Club Lacrosse *

A program which values team unity, a winning mentality and a sense of pride while at the same time expressing love and respect for the game of lacrosse.

Men's Rugby

Compete against similarly sized schools around New England in UVM's division II Rugby Team. No prior experience is necessary.

Men's Soccer

UVM Men's Club is a competitive soccer team that travels throughout New England playing other universities' club teams, as well as the occasional varsity team.

Men's Ultimate Frisbee

We play Ultimate. We play ultimate well. 33.

Men's Volleyball *

A competitive NECVL DI team that travels around New England to play in tournaments against other DI schools.

Microbiology and Molecular Genetics Club

Learn more within the world of microbiology, molecular genetics and other topics akin to it.

Minority Association of Premedical Students (MAPS)

Works to connect underrepresented students in the medical field to opportunities within and around the community.

Mock Trial Society

A fun-filled and action-packed adventure into the wild world of the courtroom. Present an annual case for both the plaintiff/prosecution side and the defense, and compete at various tournaments across the country.

Model United Nations

Promotes intercultural dialogue, critical thinking, and a global mindset through attendance at conferences, hosting of conferences, and simulations of the United Nations.

Motor Enthusiast

Seeks to unite students and faculty members who share a passion in automotive culture and industry, teach safe driving practices, and discuss all topics car related.

Muslim Student Association

Brings together Muslim students of diverse backgrounds and cultures under one unified, organized, proactive community.

National Association for Music Educators

Provides future music educators with various opportunities for professional and musical growth. Collaborate with professional educators around the country.

National Society of Black Engineers

NSBE emphasizes engineering through a social justice lens and is a space for all people of color and white-identified allies. We will plan events and activities to learn, grow , and have fun as a community within UVM campus and Greater Burlington.

Network of Enlightened Women

Dedicated to fostering the education and leadership skills of conservative university women.

Neuroscience

A way for undergraduate students interested in careers and topics in neuroscience to get information and discuss current matters in neuroscience as well as involve the community and educate them about the subject.

Next Step: Social Justice Retreat

Learn about diversity, identity, and social justice by participating in this a 3-day social justice retreat that occurs every January.

Nordic Ski Club

Train, race, hang out, and have a lot of fun - participating in nordic skiing. Skiers of all abilities and skill level are welcome.

Olympic Weight lifting

Learn safe and effective methods for Olympic Weightlifting, strength sports, and general fitness. Those with recreational, supplemental, or competitive interest in the sport are welcome.

Orchesis Dance Company

Comprised of students who love to dance, perform, and have fun along the way. With members from different dance backgrounds and training, this student-run company embodies a wide variety of talent and personality.

Organize

Help mitigate climate change through purposeful, collective, consistent, political action.

Outing Club

Provides affordable wilderness trips, instruction, leadership training and certification opportunities for campus, as well as a comprehensive array of affordable rental equipment to the UVM community. All students are welcome to come to the OC house, sign up for a trip, eat some food and stay for a meeting.

Partners In Health Engage (PIH)

A non-government organization that provides medical care to those in need. The UVM chapter helps to fundraise and facilitate awareness about global health issues.

Peer Aid Network

In partnership with Counseling and Psychiatry Services, provides a group of trained peer support specialists (PSS) who are able to triage and direct students to the UVM resources they need, day or night

People's Improv Group

Provides a weekly outlet in which students can perform comedy scenes and join together to laugh.

People of Color Outdoors (POCO)

An organization that seeks to provide bi/multi-racial and ALANA (Asian, Latino, African, Native American) students of color, and those with little to no experience or accessibility to outdoor activities, with the skills they need to explore in the outdoors.

Philharmonic

Grab your instrument and connect with other students who are devoted to art of music - and play in the orchestra with them.

Power Lifting

Powerlifting is a strength sport that consists of three attempts at maximal weight on three lifts: squat, bench press, and deadlift.

PPGenAction (Planned Parenthood Generation Action)

Empower our community by advocating for reproductive justice via educating our campus, supporting Planned Parenthood, and serving as a voice in our community.

Pre-Dental Society

Aims to inspire and provide students interested in a career in dentistry with the resources and knowledge to become strong applicants for dental school.

Pre-Medical Club

Expose yourself to the study of medicine. Listen to guest lecturers, academic outings, information sessions, volunteering, and increase your general knowledge about the medical environment.

Pre-Physical Therapy Club

Provides access to the information and materials necessary to receive admission to graduate Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs. Candidates of any undergraduate field of study are eligible to participate.

Pre-Physicians Assistant Club

Assists students in pursuit of their career in the Physician Assistant occupation by preparing competitive and dedicated applicants through providing resources, advice and educational material needed to ensure the success of our members.

Pre-Veterinary Club

Provides information, experiences, and support related veterinary medicine, helping students gain exposure to the world of veterinary medic and building relationships between pre-vet students.

Protect Our Breasts

Dive deeper into the discussion on chemicals in everyday products found on the grocery shelves that contribute to breast cancer; and empowering women to make safer choices to protect their breasts during the most vulnerable periods of their lives.

Psychological Science Club

A space where students interested in psychology can gain knowledge, give back to the community, and deepen their experience within the field.

Queer Student Union

UVM's student-run LGBTQA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Asexual, Ally and all inclusive) group, which sponsors a wide range of events and activities and provides an affirming space for folks with similar identities.

Quidditch Club

Friendship, athletics, and shenanigans will abound. Compete against other quidditch teams all year round. See you on the pitch!

Rally Cat's Cupboard

Working to mitigate food insecurity on campus by providing a continuously stocked food pantry for all UVM students to use throughout the year.

RALLYTHON - Dance Marathon

A yearlong fundraising effort that culminates in a 12-hour dance marathon raising money for the local UVM Children's Hospital.

Reformed University Fellowship

A community of students who love God, love others, and love UVM/the world. Create opportunities to explore Christianity, connect with others, and grow spiritually. All are welcome.

Roller Hockey *

Competitive at the regional level. Has competed in Division II and was seeded in the top half for the Regional.

Rowing - Intercollegiate

Looking for men, women, athletes, rowers, and coxswains - no previous experience needed. Practices and informational meetings start up soon after the semester begins.

Running Club

A fun group of people who love running for what it is and welcome runners of all abilities. Offers weekly group runs, discounts of gear, regular opportunities for community service, and more.

Runway of Dreams

Promoting fashion inclusion through increasing awareness of adaptive clothing for those with disabilities.

Sailing

One of the most popular and competitive club sports at UVM. While the competition for spots at top events each weekend is hot, the expansive schedule ensures that everyone who demonstrates commitment and hard work at practice, will have the opportunity to sail.

Salsa Society

One of the spiciest clubs on campus, encouraging students to engage in Latin social dancing; through weekly lessons in Salsa and other Latin social dances, as well as the promotion of various on and off campus events.

A chapter of a non-profit that works to promote gender equality and girls' education through fundraising and awareness initiatives.

Shooting Sports Club

A community for gun enthusiasts to meet and go shooting together. The club is made up of a competitive shotgun and pistol team as well as a recreational group. Students of all skill levels welcome.

Ski & Snowboard Club

Promoting everything rad since 2003 - UVMSSC is one of the largest student run organizations on the University's campus. Providing the opportunity for down-hill skiing and riding, transportation to mountains, and pass discounts. Students of all skill levels are welcome.

Slow Food UVM

A local chapter of an international organization emphasizing the importance of Good, Clean, and Fair food. Slow Food stands against the modern industrialized food system and works to educate people about alternative food systems.

Snowboard Team*

A collection of college riders that are dedicated to improving their level of snowboarding. This is a highly committed and competitive team that has a professional coach on the hill 7 days a week.

Social Work Club

A place for students to meet, get first hand accounts from social work professionals, and engage in volunteer work to better the community.

Society of American Foresters

We aim to further our members development into capable and qualified Forestry Professionals while serving and educating the public on sustainable forestry practices. The Woodsmen Team Competes in sporting events. We seek SAF accreditation.

Society of Physics Students

Statistics and Data Science Club

A co-ed competitive swim club that competes against several other clubs in the Northeast and trains for a National competition in the Spring.

Table Tennis

Offers an opportunity for students to play table tennis recreationally as well as test their skills in tournaments throughout the academic year. Players of all skill levels are welcome.

Taekwondo Club

A student organization dedicated to the practice and promotion of the Korean martial art of Taekwondo. UVM TKD is a fully sanctioned Taekwondo school with a certified master instructor and a staff of professional instructors.
